Avondale 260z

Avondale 260Z case - naked - 20 Jul 2003
Here´s the bare aluminium shell of the case I´m using for the Avondale dual mono beast I´m building.
Case detail - 21 Jul 2003
Detail of the L-section bars running along top and bottom of front and back panels to add rigidity. Side panels are 10mm thick aluminium sheet.

Case painted - 27 Jul 2003
Here´s the case painted. I used an etching primer, then several coats of satin black - must say it´s come up nicely!
Side view - 28 Jul 2003
Side view of the case for the 260z, with components placed.

Avondale 260z with components in place - 1 Aug 2003
The case with the bits in place. I built the NCC200 modules myself - still waiting (as of 1 Aug 2003) for one capacitor - grrr. Not quite sure how everything will sit yet.
Avondale 260z - stuffing the case begins - 21 Aug 2003
Case all sprayed and ready, all the components build and ready to go. Here the NCC200 modules plus a soft start module are in position.

Avondale 260z - in goes the rest of the bits - 22 Aug 2003
Transformer and capacitors in place. I´ve used the Avondale MCap modules on the ends of the caps - this PCB is larger than the caps, so they need lifting up. I´ve used tiewraps through sticky cable anchors, stuck to a small piece of timber. The timber is then screwed to the case from underneath, so the whole capacitor assembly can be removed.

View from the other direction. Nice to have a rear panel that comes off, as access is really easy. Also PLEASE NOTE that the primaries on the transformer are wired to the SSM for 110 volts here!!!! (My misunderstanding - thought they were dual 240v primaries)

Avondale 260z - showing rear panel - 26 Aug 2003
Here´s the rear panel. Note the thermal trip instead of a fuse - again on Avondale´s recommendation. Also PLEASE NOTE that the primaries on the transformer are wired to the SSM for 110 volts here!!!!
260z complete - top view - 15 Sep 2003
Amp completed, from above. Note I´ve changed my workbench - I can now find screws that have been put down.....

260z complete - front view - 16 Sep 2003
Finally we have a completed amp. Worked out the way to get the power button illuminated - I used a 2k2 resistor on the MCap module to drop the voltage to get the right brightness level.
260z complete - side view - 17 Sep 2003
Here it is with the lid on - all bolts and washers are non-ferrous.

260z complete - rear view - 18 Sep 2003
Rear view of the completed 260z. Note the XLR socket I added as well as the phono inputs - obviously only one set to be used at one time. Means I can drop the same cable in that was supplying the NAP250.
260z complete - front view - lid on - 23 Sep 2003
Tadahh! Finally. Many thanks to Les W of Avondale for all his patience.
