4 channel surround power amp

Surround amp project - 1 - 16 Jan 2003
Bare parts for the enclosure/heatsinks. Had all the sheet aluminium cut by a local place, including the 10mm thick sidewalls, which will act as heatsinks, as well as giving something to screw the other parts into.

The power supply will be in a seperate box, so hereīs the connector Iīve made to link the two together.

Surround amp project - 3 - 16 Jan 2003
Now sprayed the outside surfaces of the enclosure - think I should have primed it - I thought the paint was an all in one jobby, but it seems a bit susceptible to scratching. Black marker pen at the ready!
Surround amp project - 4 - 16 Jan 2003
Starting filling the box with bits. Iīm using LM1875 based kits, so itīs not really even a Gainclone - short signal path? Not me squire!

Surround amp project - 5 - 16 Jan 2003
More progress in the power amp build.
Surround amp project - 6 - 16 Jan 2003
One benefit of the case design Iīve used is that until you screw the case together, itīs very easy to work on.

Surround amp project - 7 - 16 Jan 2003
With the front of the case on - the rear isnīt attached, hence the funny angle...
Surround amp project - 8 - 16 Jan 2003
Nearly there.... view from rear.

4 channel power amp from above - 31 May 2003
Completed power amp. Right hand box contains transformer and bridge rectifiers. Cable to send power to the amp box (left). The second (larger) toroid is for the DIY Geddon supply - yet to be completed.
Ropey pic from the front - 1 Jun 2003
Fronts of amp and power supply - bit out of focus, but you can see how the case goes together. Toggle switch is a mute, running on a 5v supply with relays at the rear of the amp. Also has a 555 delay circuit on the 5v supply, to prevent switch on thump. Idea is to power the 5v from the PC, so on turning the PC on, the amps un-mute themselves ready for action.
